Hi sana,

1. lsmw - no programming requried,

whereas in call transaction & bdc session,

programming required.

2. in call transaction,

no session concept

(data is updated AS SOON AS we run the prgoram)

where as in lsmw, and session,

SESSION is generated (in both cases)

Only after when we run this session,

does the data get updated.

3. In call transactin program,

we have to handle error list and take action.

whereas in lsmw, & session,

(since session is run)

flexibility is there to check and control errors.

regards,

amit m.

hi

LSMW can be used for both large and small amout of data transfers.

The major difference between LSMW and BDC is that LSMW is not suited for frequent data transfer. For instance transactional data.

Cheers,

Abdul Hakim

Mark all useful answers...

Check this out. May be of some help.(Reward if HElpfull)

What is main difference between session method and LSMW

In the context of session method, the method of updating is “Batch Input” , we require a program to be coded, But in the context of LSMW method,The methods of updating using “Batch Input/Direction Input”from an IDOC,from a BAPI structure. No source code is required, the complete operation is performed in 16 steps sequence

Some more:

What is main difference between CATT and LSMW

Using LSMW you can update any kind of data but no changes to database are allowed, where as CATT tool can update only master data, which also allows changes to the master data and also a significant testing of data is possible

What are the differences between CALL TRANSACTION and BATCH INPUT SESSION ?-

The most important aspects of the batch session interface are:- Asynchronous processing- Transfers data for multiple transactions- Synchronous database updateDuring processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.- A batch input processing log is generated for each session - Sessions cannot be generated in parallel

The most important aspects of the CALL TRANSACTION USING interface are:- Synchronous processing- Transfers data for a single transaction- Synchronous and asynchronous database updating both possibleThe program specifies which kind of updating is desired.- Separate LUW for the transaction : The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement. - No batch input processing log is generated

By means of standard transfer programs: a wide range of master data (e.g G/L accounts , customer master , vendor master , material master) and transaction data (e.g financial documents , sales order ) can be migrated.

By means of recording of transactions: further data objects (if the transaction can be run in batch input mode) can be migrated.
