Hi

I wrote a program which will write a flat file to application server and presentation server at a time. It runs fine in foreground. But when i execute it in background iam getting status cancelled. What could be the problem?.

Iam clicking on the F8 button when the selection screen comes. Iam going to

Program-->Execute in background and i am giving the output device and selecting immediate and save.

Then iam going to SM37 and when i saw the task it says cancelled. what could be the reason?. do i need to write anything in the program.

Thanks in advance

You can not write a file to the presentation server from a background process. This is the issue. To the application server it is fine, but not to frontend(PC).

Regards,

Rich Heilman

Although Vijay has provided the document which discusses the work around, you really have to jump thru hoops to get this to work, which includes doing some work with the actually PC.

But the rule stands that you can not download to the frontend PC from a background task using the standard function modules or the class/method.

Regards,

Rich Heilman
