If you are asking about "How to Open or close the client" then...client is opened to perform any cross client object change. Normally this should not be allowed in main(golden) client.

Follow the below steps to Open or close client:

In SCC4 transaction

1. select the client

2. click change.

3. Then see the field " Cross-client Object changes"

a) To open a client select "Changes to repository & cross client customizing objs allowed"

b) To close a client select " No changes to repository or cross client customizing objs"

4. Additionally you can record the changes when client is Open, by selecting "Automatic recording of changes" in the field "Changes & Transports to client specific objects".

If client is closed, select "No changes allowed"
