Electronic transmission ....

I have to design an interface in which has the following specifications:

"File medium is electronic transmission. File is sent to the EDI translator."

I am not sure if in this case i need to go in for an idoc approach or not?

Yes, you need to create an idoc which will be sent to EDI translator.

hi,

can u make it clear like what exactly u r trying to send though electronic means .

3rd party tools like GENTRAN will handle the EDI translation stuff .

are u trying to feed ur file to this .

if this is the case then u can go for a idoc approach.

Hi Avinash,

As per spec, it has to be IDOC generation. Try to understand the current client's environment/landscape for EDI process. If it is IDoc, you have to gather the business process and relevant messge types as well need of any enhancement, Idoc frequency and finally setting the background jobs for transmitting the Idocs to EDI translator. So ask more questions to understand the requirement in detail in the initial stage.

For electronic transmission, usually the EDI translator will take care of sending the document after the translation.

As per the current situation a flat file is generated from leagcy and then GENTRAN coverst that to 834 format and sends it to 3 rd party .Going forward GENTRAN will be replaced.

So in that case I am not sure what are the possible ways i can send the data in the 834 format from the R/3 to the thirdparty.

I am looking for options apart from using IDOC as it will require a lot of enhnacement to the IDOC.
