what is the diff. bet.BDC N IDOC

an IDOC is an intermediate document which is created using a Batch data commumication or what u call BDC... BDC is used for DATA upload using session or call transaction methods

IDOC is usually a EDI document which gets created in the SAP layer and when processed ...it calls again a BDC to post a application document.

Hello,

BDC is a program via which data from files( application server or Local PC files)can be used to post documents in SAP.

Idocs are also used for EDI /ale trnasction which also post docuemnts in SAP.

Idocs are intermediate documents which shows data from/to external systems in SAP-readable format. & they cna be used to post documetns in SAP ro send data outside SAP to non-SAP ro SAP systems.

Hi Rama,

BDC are used for follwoing scenarios mostly:

1. Mass Upload of Data

2. allowed to do some activity repeatedly for large amout of data where User Interaction becomes Hectic.

Major use would be for DATA TRANSFER!!!!!

It allows us to automate some transaction for which we have data.

Following documents would give u some brief idea on Batch Data communication :

If u want to call a transaction and goto a particular screen as soon as u call the transaction, u can record the flow in BDC.

That is u have to goto SHDB transaction for recording and then specify the transaction code then pass the values and once u reach the screen, press save button and press back.

Code will get automatically generated.

Then u can copy and paste the part of the code that is needed.

IDOC is used transfer data from the SAP to sap or non-sap system.
