table maintanence

can anybody explain what is the purpose of table maintanence.For what tables it will be used.

Hi,

Table maintainence is used to maintain the custom tables.

Using table maintenence you can insert, modify, delete and perform all other tasks related to tables.

You can create the table maintenence using se11--> zXXX(table name) ~~>utilities~~> table maintenence generatot. and create your table maintenece for your custom table.

You can maintain your table through t-code sm30.

It's a tool to generate a program for the maintenance: to insert/update/delete the hits of a table.

In this way it takes few time to create a program (with a status gui with all functionalities you can need). U'll take many time to create a program like that by yourself.

It can be created for transparent and view tables.

Hi,

Table maintenance can be used to insert, change, delete records of a table for which the table maintenance screens are generated..

It can be used for tables which has table maintenance..

Hi,

As the endusers do not have authorization to se11/se16 for inserting, modifying and deleting the records.

the table maintenance is created for them so the by sm30 that can do all these operation.

Hi,

If you want to validate the fields of the table[for eg., employee no. should start with 'E'],you can write your own validations in the program if you generated table maintenance.

SM31 Table Maintenance

Table Maintenance Generator is used to create the maintenance view for a defined dbtable. U can change a particular Dbtable using SM31 only if their exists.
