Technical changes between 4.6c & ECC6.0

Hi All,

Presently we are working on SAP R/3 4.6c system and client is trying to upgrade to ECC 6.0.

As per the Technical part is concerned does the 4.6c data needs any modifications to work in ECC6.0 ?

If yes then plz let me know what are the technical changes that are to be made to run the 4.6C data in ECC6.0.

Its an urgent issue so plz kindly reply asap.

I'm not able to link to the website service.sap.com. plz give me the alternative steps

No modifications to the data is neede to migrate to ECC6.

Then it means the 4.6c data will run easily into ECC6.0 without any modifications.

for eg: Reports, BDC, Scripts etc

Hi,

Function modules like ws_filename_get ,ws_upload.ws_download have to be replaced by the new function modules in ECC.

In BDC reports,you have to check the bdc flow in both the systems to verify if there are any new additions in fields or changes in screen numbers.

Santhosh,

Its not that straight forward. You will have to consider the following points.

1. Are you going to have Unicode instance?

2. If yes, then your entire custom code will have to be unicode compatiable.

3. Some of the BDC's might not work, as the screen would have undergone changes in the new version.

4. For this, you will have to look at the BDC's and see if any of the can be converted to use the standard BAPI's or rewrite the BDC's if the existing ones are not working.

5. Apart from this the BASIS person will have to take care of making the database also Unicode compatible.
