Hi.

Is there a uniform way how to get to where the descriptions for data elements within a Field are stored?

More concretely, for some Fields I am able to find technical tables which hold descriptions, but this way sometimes leads me to a data object of type "Structure", which I do not know how to access.

Even more concretely, for the Table

MSR_D_ITEM

and the Field:

CUST_INSP_CODE

I see the distinct values of Y01,Y02,Y04 and Y06.

I would like to see a description for every of the 4 elements there (i.e. what does Y01 mean, etc.).

The standard way I go about this only leads me to something called DD03D the type of which is "Structure", and I do not know how to access the information therein, in order to get to the descriptions I need.

Could you, please, help me with this?

With thanks and kind regards,

I would start in SE11. Enter table MSR_D_ITEM, click display.

In the field list I would double click CUST_INSP_CODE , in the next screen I get to see QCODE as domain, a double click and switchting to the value tab returns another table QPCD

Double click QPCD, and there click the icon for table browser

You will probably see some names of other employees of your company who created the code group and code.

I can for example identify that these are Quality Management folks.

So looking into the menu of QM > quality planning > basic data > catalog > code group > maintain (QS41)

Taking a code group which had a code without description unveils directly that the user missed to maintain the text for the code.
