Hi Experts,

How can we create a directory in App.server?

is it possible programatically with open data set statement?

I don't think it is programatically possible. Ask the basis guys to create the directory in application server. Mostly they will be having the access to do that.

Nope you cannot create the directory programmatically but you can check the FILE transaction to define the logical/physical paths for the same.

It is definitely not possible to create a directory in the application server. Please contact your basis guy for the same.

You can create only Files in application server and not the DIRECTORIES (FOLDERS). It is basically for security reasons.

Only BASIS guys can create it.

try this

Got to AL11 transaction and click the configure button.

THen follow the GUI there to create the required directories.

Hi Ravi,

If your application server is based on UNIX,

try the following command in an ABAP program

CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD fp_command_line

ID 'TAB' FIELD lt_output.

The command line fp_command_line should have the UNIX command to create directories(MKDIR...). The lt_output table will have return values from the command(Its a table with a single column of 1000 chars).

I have tried the CALL 'SYSTEM' command for various other purposes, but did not create a directory till now. Try it out.

You can create an external command via SM69 which you can then invoke through function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE

For NT you'd need something like the following:

Operating system command

cmd

Parameters for operating system command

/c mkdir
$/SAPGLOBALHOST/\?
