ALV column heading

I am executing an ALV report in background. The output column heading is getting truncated.

How to get complete column heading?

hi,

Increase the length of that field in field catalog to avoid truncation of column heading.

Increasing the length of that field in field catalog only helps in foreground run. In background run the column heading still gets truncated.

Any other suggestions please.

is it coming in the background, if it is coming than check the lenght of the paricular column lenth that you r going to display,increase that and see the difference.

Change the output_len also in field catalog for that field.

Hi,

If the column itself is getting truncated..Try this..

When you schedule a job in the printer settings increase the report width to 255 columns..

Print Settings

Report page 65 Rows

Report width 255 Columns

Format X_65_255

When you run the program in back ground it would ask for the page format.

In the page format you must have given a format which cannot accomodate all the columns and hence it is truncating the column headers.

Even when I run the job in foreground and save it to execel it gives the problem of trucating the column header.

But if in foreground if I download by clicking on the excel icon it DOES NOT truncate the heading

Hi AP

You can check that the fields seltext_l, seltext_m and seltext_s in your fieldcat, because it use some of them to display. Another think that you can do is put in your layout colwidth_optimize = 'X'

Hi AP

· seltext_l (long field label)

· seltext_m (medium field label)

· seltext_s (short field label)

· reptext_ddic(header) Analogous to the Data element main header

· Ddictxt (specify text) : You can specify with values 'L', 'M', and 'S', the keyword that should always be used as column header. If the column width changes, no attempt is made in this case to find an appropriate header for the new output width.

Value set: SPACE, 'L', 'M', and ‘S’.

Hi,

These "p_gt_fieldcat-outputlen = 30." lengths should be according to the field size which you mentioned in the table.

for eg:-

This field 'PNTEXT'is char 30, in my table.

Please try this..

call function 'LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE'

exporting

i_structure_name = gv_struc

changing

ct_fieldcat = p_gt_fieldcat[].

suppress key fields ZCD_PNIN and so on..

loop at p_gt_fieldcat.

*To display field lengths according to the field size.

case p_gt_fieldcat-fieldname.

when 'ZZCD_ATA100'.

p_gt_fieldcat-outputlen = 12.

when 'PNTEXT'.

p_gt_fieldcat-outputlen = 30.

when 'EQUNR'.

p_gt_fieldcat-outputlen = 45.

endcase.

modify p_gt_fieldcat.

endloop.

endform.

Note: Please check your container size too..
