hi friendz,

whats the diffrence between watchpoint and break point?

can we create more than 20 secondary lists if so how?

BREAKPOINT

In the source code we set the Break-point there by clicking the stop button, the system will stop there when you execute the program.

hi,

When you put a breakpoint in a particular line of source code, while execution, program stops here.

For watchpoints, we need to give some condition and when this condition is satisfied, program will stop

Hi,

break-point- stops the flow of program at defined

point for debug purpose.

watch-point- use to set for particular value

example : if you want to debug only

for matnr value 100 than set watch point

matnr = 100. when value reaches 100 than

program stops at that point.

Hi ,

Break point is to stop the program at a particular line in the source code.

Watch point is compare a field against a value like GT,LT,EQ,NE etc... whenever the field reaches to that value as per the condition specified in the watch point it will stop the program execution and gets into the debugger.

We can more then 20 secondary lists .

but we need to proceed as follows in coding,

AT line-selection.

case sy-lsind.

when 20 .

sy-lsind = 0. "reset listindex to 0.

endcase.

1. Break Point.

At particular LINE of SOURCE CODE,

the system will STOP there.

2. Watch Point.

(For this, we have to give some

VARIABLE NAME & VARIABLE VALUE - with relational operator)

When this CONDITION gets satisfied,

(anywhere during the execution of the program),

the system will AUTOMATICALLY STOP THERE.

(EG when the value of matnr reaches the specified value)

That is the purpose of WATCHPOINT

(the system will WATCH it, like a dog)

hi,

break points are means of stopping program execution for any investigation.

this is un-conditional.

watch points are means of stopping program execution based on condition.say for ex whenever

material number is gt 1000.

you cannot create more than 20 secondary list in convention reports.,

itz possible in ALV Grids..

we can set the BREAK POINT inside the code.

whn the pgms reaches there, the pgm will stop.

no condition check is possible

watch point

Start debugging '/H'.

In the debugging screen press the create watch point button in the application tool bar..

In the program give the program name..

in the field give the field name.

In the relational operator given '=' In the comp. field/value give the value ..

Breakpoint:

If u want to debug a code in general u can keep a break-point [STOP] button so that when the program/report is executed then the execution stops at that point [all the codes before that break-point will get executed] and u can do step by step debugging / loop wise .. etc.,

Watchpoint

Watch point is a Break-point with a condition ...

what it means is ...... U can debug a code for a certain value only ....

An example scenario

say suppose u r looping an internal table which has the Employee details (Pernr) and the internal table consists of some 1000 records (1000 employee names) but the problem is coming for an employee "ZZZ" which is 900th record

If u r using a Break-point ... u can debug .. but u have to pass through all 899 records and then only u can come to 900th record ...

to avoid such a situation of simply by-passing the loop passes ... u can use watch-points wherein u can give a condition like "PERNR = 'ZZZ'" and then when u execute the report will complete all the 899 loop passes and stands at the "PERNR = 'ZZZ'" th record .. (i.e) 900th record ....
