Adding key field to a custom table

Hi Folks,

I have to modify a Z custom table. The table contains 10 fields first 3 fields are primary key. Now I have to make 6th field a part of primary key.

Is this is possible?

Also my concern is if we delete the 6th key and insert it at 4 th position and then make it a part of primary then will it affect the data already in the table.

Dear Navneet,

I think you can select the field as primary key by checking "Key" check box without deletion. Please try.

Your key field should be continious in a table, put it in the 4th field.

Hi,

While designing a table pls make sure that all your key fields are in order, key fields of the table should precede the other fields. Next thing is that you`ve already created the table and now want to make some adjustments. You do the necessary changes and adjust the database using database utility ( By SE11 MEnu Options or TX. SE14).

Hi ,

I think you can not create the primary key at 6th position . All the key fields should be in-line that is no non-key field should be present in between key fields .

If you want to move the key field to the 4th position , then I think you'll need to re-adjust the table . the data may get lost . This can be done through SE14 (Table adjustment)
