Reverse Engineering

Hi All,

I am planning to create a new program which will do the reverse engineering of the specified program, and displays the flow chart/ algoritham of logic.

can any body suggest how to proceed to achieve this functionality..

Hi Vishwanath,

Guess its going to be a difficult task to achieve what you are looking for. Its a good idea but definitely a up-hill task.

Di you try some of the third party tools like

abovesoft

http://www.abovesoft.com/ They claim that they can do the flowchart. I have tried using this. The tool does not work correctly.

I have the Abovesoft tools. It trays to do flowcharts but it isnt free of errors. In second ahnd i haven't ever seen better tool for it.

SO your task is really ambitious.

Hi VJ,

Thanks alot for the quick response. I have gone thorugh the above soft tools already.. even i feel that there are so many bugs in their tools. So i just want to develop my own application which will do the similar functionalities. So i am still at design face and currently want to think about the 'A' category items(which are less in no but high in prioirty/importance). I feel that in this tool A catagory thing is stamping at all the locations on the way of control flow..

so can u give any suggestion regarding the logic of this..

Please ask me if u r not clear about my question..

Hi Vishwanath,

I am not clear with ur question. I have not recently used the tool so might not be aware of all its functionalities. Yes u r rite the tool is not that useful. But its the only closest to what u r looking for.

Would be great if you can develop such a functionality.

i need some sugestions to go ahead with my design document(some push up/ideas in building up the logic of the program).

I think the problem is so complicated that it will be hard to discuss it here.

Maybe you should think of starting the open sorce project.

You will with sure find some ABAP fans who will help you with that fact. And whole abap comunity will be hapy with having something like thet if the project will succed.
