Enhancement, Include, User-exit

Hi masters,

I can't understand enhancement and user-exit and include. I can't understand their use on standard displays.

To write code on standard screens, should we create enhancement and write code? Or can we write code within the standard screen without creating enhancement or user-exit?

There is an example of this situation in the picture below: Which one is correct?

Should we create an include on standard screens and write the code as enhancement? Or can we write our code normally?

You can do either way technically i.e. write your code directly in the user-exit or create an enhancement point and implement it.

The former option is more straightforward, easier and faster. It is good enough for relatively small projects.

The latter has the overhead of an enhancement point definition and its implementation. However it is a nice way to isolate multiple enhancements of the same user-exit. It is definitely recommended for large implementations.

There's no "absolute good" way.

You're asking about "X", but what is your initial "X" issue with the code you show?
