Warning message stops. I expect it will continue after displaying.

Hi Expert,

I put MESSAGE 'Staring....' TYPE 'I'. in my report, and I expect it displays warning message on status bar and program continue. But my program stops. Hope experts can help me out.

Type I is informational, not warning.

MESSAGE behaves differently depending on when/where it's triggered. The ABAP documentation explains all the differences.

Hi ,

Messages are used to tell the user what is going on in the program.

There are types of messages.

1) Termination : denoted as A , The message appears in a dialog box, and the program terminates. when the user has confirmed the message ,control returns to the next-highest area menu.

2) Error : denoted as E, depending on the program , an error dialog box appears or the program terminates.

3) Information : denoted as I, the message appears in a dialog box, once the user conforms the message, the program execution continues from the next statement coded immediately after the message statement.

4) Success : denote by S , The total program executes normally and the message is displayed in the status bar on the screen.

5) Warning : denoted by W, the error message is displayed in the status bar on the screen, and the program execution terminates.

6) Exit or Abort : denoted by X, no message is displayed. The program terminates with the dump.

I found the problem. If there is no global message handle exists, the warning message also will terminate program.

So we need to check if global message handle exists first. If it doesn't exist, we need to create one.
