CONVT_NO_NUMBER error

Hi Gurus,

We are passing data from excel to sap. Data we are passing from excel for amount is 277,333,280.This is happening for one user in Production. Other users in Other systems are not getting any issue with the value. Kindly help me out to solve this. Didnt get where the value is being converted to 277.333.280(with dots). Tried changing the default settings for decimals also. still same issue is happening

Since you found that the issue does not occur to other Users, recommend you to maintain the same User setting as maintained for other users and try again.

Do remember that as soon as you make a change to the user Default settings you have to Log out and Log in again for the changes to reflect.

Ideally the programmer should handle this in the program only as you cannot expect users to maintain same settings. The developer should use the WRITE statement on local currency variable before loading on to actual variable. This will help in eliminating all issues pertaining towards the data transfer from file to SAP. The Same issue can also be expected for Date Field.

All correct except WRITE as a universal solution to OP issue, simply because the OP context is unclear ("load data from Excel" doesn't mean much).

Classic error. Explained and solved a lot in the forum.

The CONVT_NO_NUMBER happens because there are several <dots>.

The ABAP documentation explains the possible formats.

These lines trigger a CONVT_NO_NUMBER error (whatever the "default settings for decimals") :

DATA(number) = CONV i( '277.333.280' ).
DATA(number2) = CONV i( '277,333,280' ).

This works (whatever the "default settings for decimals"):

DATA(number) = CONV i( '277333280' ).

NB: please explain what the "Excel" file looks like (both for correct situation and for error), how it's built, and what your program exactly does.

The root cause is that . <dot> is not a digit. Hence the conversion error.

We are passing data without dot. It is being converted in inside sap. Strange thing is that this is happening for user only and in Production system alone not in Quality system.

819037If that's indeed only for a specific user in a specific system, then I'd suggest reviewing the user's defaults in SU3:

Probably Y setting is going to work, but that's only a guess.

I suggested Y setting in the user's default. Just try all of them and see which one works.

My doubt here is if it is with Default system settings. We tried changing our system defaults to get the Dump. It is working fine for us.

Please post the code as text instead of image, so that one can easily answer by testing your code.

If you look at the details of the short dump, you'll probably see that it_data_wa-value contains dots, not commas. Your REPLACE of commas is then inefficient. Hence the short dump.

And when you debug, what do you see in v_bal, before and after the REPLACE ALL?

Your code, by the way, is overly complicated. IT_DATA_WA-VALUE must be a character fields.

REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF ',' IN it_data_wa-value with ''.
<fs> = it_data_wa-value.

Hi Matthew,

Before replacing , the value is 277,333,280 and after replacing its is 277333280 in quality system.

In Production system we cant execute this program as is posts FI documents. But looking at the dump in Production, we can see that value getting converted with dots init. and i dont see the logic related to this conversion with dots.

819037 What is the type of the <fs>? If it can't contain 27733380, then that's your problem. The field isn't big enough.

The data type for <fs> is WRBTR( P(7) decimal 2). me too understand that passing 3 decimal value 2 decimal variable will cause the issue. My doubt is how the value is converting with dots only in production and why not in other systems the conversion is happening to replicate the issue. Dont understand where and why the conversion is happening only in Production server.

What is important is to reproduce first. Then you can find a solution or tell us more about it. To reproduce, ask to work with the user, ask your leader, etc.

We cant check this report directly in Production server. So trying to run the Report in Quality system and Dump is not shown what ever the user setting may be. As the logic is same in both the systems dont understand where and how the conversion with dots is happening in user system.

To reproduce, ask to work with the people who can run the report "in Production server". Nobody here can help you, because we don't know your program, your context...
