No, Not required. Straight away you can learn OOALV, no prerequisite.

I wouldn't be able to tell anybody if it's worth learning OOALV or ALV reports (unprecise terms, don't you mean CL_SALV_* classes A.K.A. ALV Object Model, and function modules REUSE_ALV_* function modules), it depends on the context!
