topic ABAP CDS Views dynamic fields? in Application Development and Automation Discussions

Hi everyone,

I want to develop a UI5 App which sends and gets data via OData Services from ABAP CDS Views.

Is it right that I cannot use ABAP CDS Views and OData for dynamic fields and joins, because of the pre-defined structure?

I would like to send a parameter (tablename) from the UI5 App to the ABAP CDS Views via OData Services. Then I want to use the parameter (tablename) for the join statement to create a new table and send it back to the UI5 App. I think I cannot realize it with ABAP CDS Views / CDS Table Functions. Is there any solution for this scenario?

BR

Yes you cannot use CDS based abap programming model for fiori to do this. But you could use normal odata to achieve this and I don't recommend this approach

https://blogs.sap.com/2019/04/26/dynamic-table-data-read-and-odata-binding/

But I believe there could be some better solution to ur requirement and if you could share that, you would probably get a better solution.

-Mahesh
