Swapping Technical Objects on Service Contract (VA42)

Hi,

I need to develop a funtion that will swap Technical Objects on Contracts. The reason for the change is a swap of equipment under warranty.

I have been looking at the IWOL function group trying to determine if the needed functions are there. Has anyone else done this before? If so, which BAPIs did you use to perfom this process?

Try BAPI_CUSTOMERCONTRACT_CHANGE.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I looked at this BAPI before. I don't see where it allows changes of Technical Objects (equipment) associated with contract lines. Perhaps I've overlooked it? If so, please point out my oversight.

Contrac data is stored in VBAK/VBAP right? Do you know the field which stores the technical object?

The main contract data is stored in VBAK/VBAP, that is correct.

I'm not sure of all of the tables associated with the Technical Object link. Here's some that I've found in my search.

EQUI, contains the equipment (technical objects)

SER02, gives OBKNR(s) by sdaufnr(vbeln) and posnr.

OBJK, gives SERNR(s) by OBKNR.

There are probably more tables involved, I can't say for certain. There must be another table that links EQUI-EQUNR with either SER02 or OBJK.

Note: Just to clarify what it is I'm trying to do. What I need to do is to add a new Technical Object to an existing Contract Line item. And delete and existing Technical Object from an existing Contract Line item.

Hey Richard,

Go through the documentation of this BAPI.

I could see a field OBJNR in VBAP but am not sure whether it stores the OBJNR of technical objects. Also I culd not find the field OBJNR in the BAPIs interface.

If u cant use the BAPI ur safest bet would be to record the transaction and use CALL TRANSACTION...

The OBJNR in VBAP is not the technical object.

I am really hoping I don't have to resort to BDC processing for a number of reasons.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
