Difference between Portal and Java System in sap.

Hi,

Recently I have come across one question from our senior lead describing the portal system and Java System. Hence, I was not able to understand the difference between the two Systems. Well, Could please explain that whether both systems are same or different.

In principal, the SAP NetWeaver Portal is an application on top of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java.
