Error ME110 While using BAPI_REQUISTION_RESET_RELEASE to reset release status of PR

Hello Experts,

Currently we are using bapi requisition reset release in a Z program to de-release multiple PR.

While it is working fine for most of the cases but it is unable to reset the release status for those PR with RFQ done with PO deleted. And it throws an error ME110 (Order Already Place For item Function not possible).

We raised an incident to SAP and the reply received was to call ME54N instead of ME54 in exit MEREQ001.
Can you shade some insight on how to achieve this or do we have alternative to bypass ME110 error and reset the release through bapi requisition reset release.

Read 2142720 - Error ME110 in the BAPI_REQUISITION_RESET_RELEASE or BAPI_REQUISITION_RESET_REL_GEN - only pre-enjoy BAPIs exist, and only enjoy transactions allow this operation 😞 - so, use BDC on ME54N
