Dear SAP Team,

I downloaded and installed SAP 7.52 developer edition with the guidance of Julie Plummer.

https://blogs.sap.com/2018/09/13/as-abap-7.52-sp01-developer-edition-concise-installation-guide/

Then I installed Eclipse and I tried to connect to my locally installed SAP server. Unfortunately I cannot reach the server. Maybe, I filled the fields with wrong data. Could you check it, please?

By the way I installed SAP on the host machine, not on a VM.

error massage:

Logon to system NPL failed (partner 'vhcalnplci:3301' not reached)

SAP server:

vhcalnplci:npladm 1> startsap ALL
starting database NPL ...
Log file: /sybase/NPL/startdb.log
startdb completed successfully
Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv
OK
Instance Service on host vhcalnplci started
-------------------------------------------
starting SAP Instance ASCS01
Startup-Log is written to /home/npladm/startsap_ASCS01.log
-------------------------------------------
/usr/sap/NPL/ASCS01/exe/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 01 -function Start
Instance on host vhcalnplci started
Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv
OK
Instance Service on host vhcalnplci started
-------------------------------------------
starting SAP Instance D00
Startup-Log is written to /home/npladm/startsap_D00.log
-------------------------------------------
/usr/sap/NPL/D00/exe/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 00 -function Start
Instance on host vhcalnplci started
vhcalnplci:npladm 2>

In Eclipse/New ABAP Project:

System ID: NPL
Connection Type: Customer Application Server
Application Server: vhcalnplci
Instance Number: 01

Client: 000
User: SAP*
Password: Appl1ance --standard password

Best regards:

Try to connect using it address and give 127.0.0.1 as the IP address. Also ensure that you have this same updated in hosts file also.

Just wanted to know, for me it has failed which I tried some time back using VM. Can you let me know what system configuration you have that enable you to have successfull setup ??

Thank you for your answers but I still can't join to the server with Eclipse.

For jyothir aditya k :

Host: Ubuntu 18.04 -- I don't use VM, because my machine is not powerful enough for that. (I use dual boot.)
I set static ip address: 192.168.0.25 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 (vhcalnplci resolves to 192.168.0.25)
Changed the hostname to vhcalnplci
I installed all the packages which are needed as a prerequisite to run SAP developer edition. I strictly followed Julie's description.

What do you mean by "Try to connect using it address and give 127.0.0.1 as the IP address." In Eclipse where should I write this address?

I am not sure what should I write next to "Application Server:". In my question you can see that I wrote the hostname "vhcalnplci", but I also tried it with 192.168.0.25. Nothing happened, except in the error message 192.168.0.25 got resolved to the hostname.

(I've just finished university where I learned SAP, and now I can't reach the server of the uni but I'd like to improve my ABAP skills that's why I decided to install this server.)

All the best,

Balint
