Change Document not created

Hi SDNites,

I am trying to generate change documents (CDHDR / CDPOS) for a custom field and it is not getting triggered. I have followed following steps,

1. Created an object in SCDO.

2. Generated the update program with trigger immediately flag checked and change the prefix from F to Z.

3. Activated the generated modules, includes, DDIC structures.

4. Also the data element for which change document has to be created has Change Document flag checked.

I expect now the change document to be created when I modify the value of the custom field from Table maintenance generator. But I cannot see it happening. Can you please help me with this.

Also the includes and FM being generated, I cannot see them in transport request. Is it the way it should happen?

Change documents are generated thru code, SE54/SM30 wont generate those by itself, you may consider calling the generated FM (or its include) in some save event of the dialog maintenance.

Do not confuse Change Document (must be explicitly coded) and Table Change Logging (provided by open SQL)

Thanks for the response Raymond.

My complete requirement is to trigger the change pointer when any custom field of custom table is being modified.

So based on your comment above, I will separating it into 2 parts,

1. Change Document - Where after generating Object, I have to write the code in SAVE event so that changes gets logged in CDHDR and CDPOS.

2. Change Pointer - After doing the configuration in BD52, the change pointer entry gets generated automatically as soon as Change Document is created and a relationship gets automatically established in BDCP2 and CDHDR / CDPOS.

Please let me know if the above is correct.

I am now able to create the change document.

I have noticed that when Change pointer entry being created, it has TABKEY value as 000. Can you please let me know how can I populate it.

Note : I have passed Key parameter while configuring change pointers in BD52.
