ERROR_KPRO raised when calling BDS_BUSINESSDOCUMENT_CREATEF

Hello.

I am trying to upload a file as a service for object attachment to SAP notifications.

When I test the function module BDS_BUSINESSDOCUMENT_CREATEF to do this via se37 it works fine.

However when I call the function module (which is remote-enabled) from a middleware application, the ERROR_KPRO is raised. I was told that because the function module is being called outside of SAPGUI it will not work. That doesn't make any sense to me since the function module is intended to be called by external systems. Am I wrong?

How can an external system call this function module and successfully attach files to a business object?

Hello again.

Can anyone suggest any ideas to help me resolve the ERROR_KPRO being raised?

I really want to go with BDS_BUSINESSDOCUMENT_CREATEF because this way, I don't need to upload the file attachment to SAP in binary form; plus it's a limitation I have. From what I can tell, there is no other remote-enabled FM that can do the file attachment without requiring the file in binary format.
