SAP ABAP Patch Notes

Hi experts,

I have a component SAP_BASIS with 700 release. For example I have 2 notes 1143177 and 2122022 that I need to apply. In SAP Note 1143177 for release 700 with patch SAPKB70016 and for SAP Note 2122022 for release 700 with patch SAPKB70033.

1. So I have to apply only SAP Note with latest patch? (apply only 2122022)

2. Or I have to apply both patch in series ? (apply 1143177 and 2122022)

Please, help me

What is you current SP level ?

First note contains corrections valid from SAPKB70013 to SAPKB70018 (some only until SAPKB70015)
Second note contains corrections valid from SAPKB70009 to SAPKB70032

Hint: Just call transaction SNOTE and download both notes, then click on SAP Note browser, SAP will provide you this information, column "implementation status" will contain some "Can" or "Cannot be implemented". Also during implementation SNOTE will raise some "Prerequisites" pop-up with Notes to also implement (and to download to insure that they can be implemented and that they don't also carry some required notes too, multiple occurrences of the pop-up will arise with system not up-to-date).

What did you mean about "SP level" ? You mean support package ?

1) So if I have SAPKB70013 then I have to install both notes?

2) If I have SAPKB70012 then I have to install only 2122022 (SAPKB70009 to SAPKB70032)?

Yes SP stands for Support Package. In SP13 you can install both, with SP12 you can only install second one, and SP07 you have to upgrade SP level. But download notes via SNOTE and look at them to be sure. You could have to download and even install other notes too like 1917381, SNOTE will inform you when you start implementation (or navigate to suitable correction instructions)

I have another question to you.

I have SAP_BASIS component with 740 release and patch SAPKB74002

I found 2 notes: 2252312 and 2258608.

1) In my case I need to apply only 2258608 ?

If I apply 2258608 I do not have to apply 2252312, because 2252312 has SAPKB74014, 2258608 has SAPKB74015. And SAPKB74015 collect all correction of SAPKB74014 ?

2) Why on my server installed patches for 700,702 and 731 releases ? What does it mean ?

SAPKB74014 is a prerequisite of SAPKB74015(and 013 , 012, etc.)

Note that OSS note have a minimal (required objects) and a maximum (already implemented) SP level.

This is only a log of your legacy (life event of your system)

I do not need to install the patches in sequence if SAPKB74015 is the last and valid from 740 to SAPKB74014 ?

Means that if SAPKB74015 is inmplemented, so SAPKB74001-14 are also implemented on your system. Install the SP in sequence (but install those in a single session, you don't want to check impacts multiple times, if you aren't paid by task of course)

Check that

2258608 - Missing Authentication in Transaction DBCO - you can implement til SP14, what did SNOTE say?

2252312 - Insufficient logging of RFC in SAL - you require at least SAPKB74008, so cannot be implemented without (at least) prevous SAPKB74003-08 implementations (and SPAU, SNOTE actions may will be required)

No explicit relation is established between both notes, but there can be indirect ones (e.g. a note is a prerequisite note of another prerequisite note, recursively, times to open a XLS sheet to store list oif notes to implement when systems are not up-to-date) - Don't worry SNOTE is able to manage this, and will then ask for download other notes, and sometimes will display a stack of notes to implement in sequence as not always in number sequence (cause of version number usually)

In this case the allowed SP levels don't overlay so shouldn't be the case.

I'm just trying to understand mechanism of ABAP SAP Notes..How does SNOTE transaction work..

I mean how SNOTE compare notes on server side. In SAP we have a components with releases and patches.

If I have SAP_BASIS component with 740 release with patch 2 I just want to understand which of notes should be installed on my server.

All these patches I can apply on my server:

2258608

2252312

2236289

2245130

2251619

2248735

1973081

So if I apply SAP Note with latest SP (2258608) should I apply another Notes? Or I need to apply every patches?

Because if I apply 2258608 I get latest SP. Theoretical it is no need to apply another..
