Hello Gurus,

We have justed completed the latest SP upgrade for EHP7. However, the PDF generated from SAPScript and sent as an email attachment by print program converted to unrecognized characters in mailbox. It looks fine when displayed in SOST. It also looks fine in my mailbox when it was sent from Q system! But it becomes unrecognized characters when the PDF was sent from Production. Do you have any idea to check what needs to be turned on or off in production?

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

HO

Hi,

what is the language of the text that is shown incorrectly (I assume it is not English)?

To check the devtype used by SAP for producing the PDF, can you open the PDF file with notepad and search for string "Devtype"?

(for example you might find a line like

%Devtype HP4350 Font COURIER normal Lang EN )

Which SAP device type is listed there?

Regards,

  Alex

Hello Alex,

It is PDFUC. In condition record we maintain the logical destination to be UPDF which is a dummy printer with unicode. This was solved by using UPDF on the first day, but now the encoding issue reoccurred. The original language and country language is English, but the PDF viewed in mailbox become unrecognized characters which is not Chinese. The billing number e.g.1234567890 was not displayed as number but displayed as unrecognized characters. This is occurred since EHP7 SP7 Upgrade. And it looks fine in SAP Print Preview and SOST print preview. The PDF sent as email attachment also is working fine in Quality System. Do you have any idea and resolution on this? Thank you very much!

Regards,

CN

Hello Alex,

I have compared both PDF of same billing.

The PDF with NO encoding issue :

%Devtype PDFUC Font COURIER normal Lang EN Script: 0 ->/C001

The PDF with ENCODING ISSUE:

%Devtype PDFUC Font COURIER normal Lang EN Script:225 ->/C001

The difference here is the SCRIPT.
