Regarding modification switch off in custome object

Hi Experts,

We need you help regarding following concern,

We have our sap system where even custom object is being treated as standard modification one.Basically this is a migrated system from the old one

and now if we trying to modify anythin in any custom object or we are even creating a new custom object then its' giving the warning message ans 'INSERT , 'MODIFY' 'DELETE' and all thsoe are coming in the menu as per the standard object.

We can do switch off modification assistant but not sure whether we shoud do this is or not.

You do not need to switch of modification. This would be a bad thing.

The problem is that your objects still have your old system as the Original System. (Check their object directory entries). Change the objects using SE03 so their original system is your new system, and you won't have this problem anymore.

Hello Rinki,

Switching off the modification assistant will not cause any technical problem.

However, you need to confirm this within your team and higher-ups. Because, it is more of an organizational decision than a technical reason to track the changes in code. In some cases it is very helpful to keep it on. For example: Tracking of changes and copying this changes to another system manually.

Thanks for your reply but i have checked and its' not within the old transport of old system.

Even the transport does not exists in the new system.

what i understood is that, if its' being switch off then the changes incorporated by us / new developemnt will not go automatically something like that..

can you elaborate a bit ? is there any other way out ?

Hi Rinki,

'Will not go Automatically' I did not understand this. Are you talking about transporting of changes? If so, they will be transported even after switching off the modification assistant. Hope this answers your question.

It's nothing to do with transports.

Enter SE03. Choose "Change Object Directory Entries.

In "Further Restrictions" enter the system id of the old system in Original System. So if your old system was D01, then enter D01 here.

Hit execute

You will now see a screen with a tree, with node "Original System". Open that node up and you will see all the objects that are registered to your old system.

Pick one.

Double click on it.

Change "Original System" to your new system - so if the new system is D99, then enter D99 here.

Save.

You need to do this for all the objects - the link I gave you above explains how to do this in one bulk operation, rather than one object at a time.
