BAPI for asset creation through ABZON

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement where I need to simulate SAP asset creation process through transaction ABZON through ABAP program. I got two BAPIs for asset creation:

BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE and

BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST

But I am not sure which BAPI will solve my purpose and what's the difference between the two? I could find that transaction ABZON allow us to create the asset master record and post the asset acquisition as a one step. I want to implement the same in my program through BAPI.

Please provide your valuable inputs..

Hi Pranshu,

If you only want to create an asset with no value , you should use BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE ,

But If you want to create and transfer amount into in it.You should use BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE and/or BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST.But I am not sure BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST cover all of your needs .After creation of your asset , you could use bdc for abzon I think.

Thanks for your input. bdc for abzon.. yes that would be the last option for me.. but I just wanted to check first whether we can mimic the sap standard asset creation using abzon through BAPI.

Before going to bdc option I need to make sure there is no bapi available for abzon.

For creation use

Fixed asset (BUS1022):

BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE1

BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE is obsolete

For acquision

Asset acquisition (BUS6029):

BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_CHECK

BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST

NB: ABZON is an Enjoy transaction, so a BDC should call transaction ABZO (*) but better try BAPI solution.

Hi Raymond,

Thanks a lot for your guidance. To summarize this I should:

1) Use BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CREATE1 to create asset master record,

2) and then BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST for posting the asset acquisition.

By doing this we will achieve abzon functionality through ABAP program.

Please correct me if am wrong..

Other usual BAPI for Asset postings on acquisition/retirement/transfer :

Asset retirement: (BUS6028)

BAPI_ASSET_RETIREMENT_CHECK

ASSET_RETIREMENT_POST

Post-capitalization of asset (BUS6027):

BAPI_ASSET_POSTCAP_CHECK

ASSET_POSTCAP_POST

With the creation BAPI and the three posting BAPI you should be able to replace the whole bunch of transactions : ABZON, ABAVN, ABAON, ABNAN, ABUMN, ABT1N
