IDOC vs. BAPI for internal use solution

Hello Experts ,

We need requirement to preform automatic updates to other notification after the save of the current PM notification

The most important requirement is to have simple tracking on the return message

We have 2 options :

Option 1 : Write the updated planned changes to Z table and update it in night job program which will use BAPI and will updated the Z table upon success or failure

Option 2 : generate idoc after the notification save and run the idoc in a night job

Which option would be better from your experience?

Hi Ziv,

If there is need for data transfer to other systems upon notification save, IDOC seems to be a preferred option. If it is a stand alone process where there is no data transfer involved, update the changes to a Z table and use it in the nightly job that uses BAPI.

Using IDOC may result in extra processing like IDOC generation, filling data segment etc which is not desired when data is not really transferred to any system.
