User exit for Customer Master without screen

Hi,

I need to change a value in a custom field appended to table KNA1 depending on values entered in the sales area partner functions (KNVP).

I'm trying to find a user exit that will allow me to do this, but everything I've come across either doesn't give you access to change values (e.g. Enhancement SAPMF02D, BTE 00001321) or wants you to create a custom screen group so that the field can be manipulated directly by the user (e.g. BAdI CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA_CS).

Does anyone know of a simpler user-exit where I can just alter the data, without having to get involved in custom screen groups?
