Update Task, Set Update Task Local and Update Module

Hello Experts,

Can anyone please explain me the difference between UPDATE MODULE, calling a function in UPDATE TASK and using SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL before calling a function module. Also explain when and where shall we use these.
