Lost Variants

Hi Experts,

I have done some changes in selection screen parameters type.

As a result. I lost all variants in DEV.

Is there a way to copy Variants from Prod to DEV ?
How can I make sure that when my change move to QAS and PRD, those variants are lost.

I searched for the queries, all i found is transporting Variants from Dev to Prd and not the other way around.

Hi,

you could extract variants using functions like RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS. There is Excel file with RFC connection to this function in the internet.

Did you try to convert / correct your variant using the standard program used for upgrade?

Anil,

Does the DEV variants available in QA and PROD ?

If yes,then why don't you check those variants and recreate them in DEV ?

Were the variants transported initially or created in the respective systems ?

Moreover,as you said,you have done changes in the selection screen but didn't explain what changes you did and how different are they from what you currently have in Q and P.

Anyway,when you are moving the program changes from D to Q & P,you can include the variants (use prog RSTRANSP ) also in the TR so that it gets transported to target system along with the program.

Hi,

your variants aint lost, you cant simply use them with the new version of your programm. thats why you have to create new variants in DEV QA and PROD. better check what variants are used in each system and decide to create them on each system or maintain them in DEV and transport to PROD.

i dont think its possible the other way round.

Hi Girod,

This FM, only gives values of the variant, I will have to copy 50 odd variants into dev.

I found a report RSVARDOC_610. Run it with report name, all the Variants re appeared.
