Archiving functionality to be added to a current ABAP Query

Hi All,

I have a requirement to add archiving checkbox in an ABAP Query. Currently the report is fetching data from database.

With the archive checkbox selected, it can fetch the archived data as well. I have created a custom program to fetch the archived data using Archive information system. I need to incorporate the archiving functionality in the ABAP Query report within the Infoset.

Please suggest your idea or experience regarding the same.

Hi Tanu,

You can Execute the report when the check box is checked with the code below,

If LC_CHECKBOX = 'X'

"You Report Logic"

Endif.

You can use the below two methods,

1) If you have developed the archiving functionality as separate report then create a transaction for it and call it inside the if condition

2) else you also just add the logic inside the if condition. How ever i would prefer the first method.

I'm new to the query itself. I'm not able to figure out the internal table in which to add the archived records within the query. Though I have some idea that i can do my code within the End-of-selection (before list) event of my Infoset.

If any more idea is provided that would be really helpful!

Hi Tanu,

From my understanding you need not worry about the internal table where you need to populate. You have already told that you have created a custom program to fetch archived data, so now as a first step create a transaction for your custom report say the t-code is name as ZARCHIVE, now in your program where you have added the Checkbox named as say lc_chk, you have to write the logic as below,

if lc_chk = 'X'.

call ZARCHIVE.

Endif.

So now you need not worry about internal table, The table which you are using in the Custom program will automatically take care of tat.

Hello Satish,

The Custom program created is a standalone sample program. It is not related to the Query report. It was created so as to know what code we need to insert in the Query to fetch and display the data from the archive.

Doing that we need to know the approach to implement it within the Query.

Moreover, the query is making use of Logical database. I have some idea that I can do the code within End-of-selection (Before List) event. But we will have to append the records in output internal table which is displaying records.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
