Disabling [ On Value Reqeust ] F4 help in a Selection Screen Dynamically

Hello Experts,

We have F4 help field enabled using the event "On Value Request " in a selection screen.

Is there a possibility to control the visibility of this F4 help dynamically ? Meaning i would like to hide this F4 help on the start of program [ would like to keep the On Value Request] upon the field.

This below syntax is not allowed in ABAP. AT SELECTION-SCREEN doesn't allow any IF .. ENDIF Condition

IF Condition.

AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR P_WERKS.

.....

....

ENDIF.

at start of program if your cursor is on another field, you F4 on required field will not be avialable, when you will go on that field then only F4 will be appear.

if your requirement is different, please elaborate more.

why are you not using like this :

AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR P_WERKS.

IF Condition.

.....

....

ENDIF.

Hi Deeps,

My requirement is even when the users puts the cursor the target Field, then as well the F4 help shouldn't appear.

Meaning I have certain global conditions and only when these conditions are met, I would like to make the F4 help visible for this field.

Hi Yogendra,

This would still make the "F4 Help Action" appear on the field. Meaning the F4 help button would appear, but not values would be fetched.

I want the total F4 help Action itself to be not visible, when I place a cursor on the field.

by the way loop on screen and make the value of screen-value_help = 0 .

Then you can code your global conditions where you declare your selection screen. I have done this:

DATA: flag(1) VALUE 'X'.
IF flag = 'X'.
PARAMETERS p_werks LIKE p0001-werks.

ELSE.
PARAMETERS p_werks2 TYPE werks.

ENDIF.

Then of course afterwards you have to play with the code a bit to move p_werks2 to p_werks.

You could define two parameters and hide always one of them with screen-invisible = '1' at event AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.

I tried this option of screen-value_help = 0 .

But it didn't work when I do this at AT-SELECTION SCREEN OUTPUT event.

Hi Naresh,

I would like to know whether it is report or module pool screen. If it is module pool screen we can achieve it there is an option for disabling it in attributes pop up.

If it is report you have to do this by going to the database table of the field which you are referring in the selection screen.

How would this be a feasible option, when

AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST is itself making the F4 help icon/action visible for the field.

My data declaration looks like below,

SELECT-OPTIONS:

P_WERKS FOR WERKS NO INTERVALS.

......

AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR P_WERKS

....

.....

Now how do I declare the input to attach value help ? Should I stop using the event: AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST ?

I am using a selection screen report.

Please check the data declaration I have put in the previous reply. Also here I am talking about the F4 action/icon to the field.
