MSC2n Batch Characteristics Update

Hi,

My requirement is to update the Batch Characteristics in transaction MSC2N.

The Batch Characteristics and their corresponding Values are available under the Material characteristics tab and are already existing in SAP.

But i am suppose to update the existing values, i.e. to overwrite the existing Characteristics Values only.

I have tried using BAPI's and FM but not able to update the existing values.

I tried using QC01_BATCH_VALUES_READ but was not successful in updating the characteristics values.

Also tried using BAPI_OBJL_CHANGE but not able to update .

Guys Please Help!!!!!!!!

Hi Dinesh,

With BAPI_OBJL_CHANGE, you should be able to update the Batch Characteristics. Are you getting any errors? What is the error that you are getting?

Hi Sharmila,

I am not able to update the characteristics, whenever i run this it does not give any value in the return parameters.

May i know the input i am suppose to pass to the BAPI ex:

OBJECTKEY : What all i have to pass (concatenate what)

OBJECTTABLE:

and what values i have to pass in the characteristics tables.

Hi Dinesh,

Your Object Key will be the combination of MATNR, WERKS & CHARG and the object table is 'MCHA'.

Are you using BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT after the BAPI call?

Execute and check 'BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL' with your inputs. From that, you could know how to provide input to charateristics table.

Hi Sharmila,

I am using BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT in the end, but data is not updating.

I have obtained the object key using BAPI_OBJCL_CONCATENATEKEY by passing WERKS,MATNR,CHARG. And OBJECTTABLE = MCH1

All that is working fine.

The BAPI BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL is also executing fine and in the end i receive:

CLASSIF_STATUS = 1.

S CL 506 Saving changes to assignments in the RETURN table.

But how do i have to update the values of characteristics, i am passing the values in ALLOCVALUESCHARNEW, but there seems to be something missing.

What all parameters i am suppose to pass in the characteristics table ALLOCVALUESCHARNEW, to overwrite the existing values/ add new values against characteristics description.

Dinesh,

The object table should be 'MCHA' not 'MCH1'.

If BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL is executing fine, then it should have returned the table ALLOCVALUESCHARNEW with values. Just modify the characteristics value there and pass it to BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE.
