getting output device information

Hello, hope I am putting it at the right forum. first one and also newbie to SAP .

Hope someone can tell me if there is a way to get the output device information using vbscript to connect and retrieve information.

Been 2 days searching , may be I have found the bapiadprt which might be called but I am unable to use it after connecting myself from my vbs.

I need to connect with vbscript (ok)

I then need to collect all output devices (printer definition) and put them in a file. short name, windows queue name, print server defined?

any one can lead me where I can read on how to do this?

for sure thanks,

I am getting information from different sources regarding printer setup.

ie: I am gattering all printer setup directly from print servers using wmiconnect

I am then gattering all internal information like MAC , serial, device desc....from printer with smtpget
I am even getting nslookup results from portname definitions.

I am placing all that to get a dashboard mapping all company printers at one place.

I am now trying to get mapping from inside SAP to add this and link it to my dash board.

Have researched for 2 days on this without finding . I do not have access to write any abap. Nor am I able to access tables directly via ODBC as this is not allowed either.

Hi,

In SAP in order to access sap table we write ABAP programs .

If you are able to see the required info using SAP transaction you might be locate the tables that contain the data .

yes , I know there are these.

TSP03 - Printer Declaration

TSP03A - Device Description

What I was looking for was maybe a bapi already created by SAP. Either this or an object I could call from my vbscript that would contain these data.

I mean , calling it with oBAPICtrl.GetSAPObject("Bapiadprt")

If nothing exist then I will have to wait 2 months for my abap team to create the extract for me.

this is why I am trying so much do get around that other process.

Hi,

I guess that "oBAPICtrl.GetSAPObject("Bapiadprt")" is to invoke a bapi using RFC.(I use Java)

If it is a one time job you can use SE16 and export the data .

To write RFC function that will export all the tables content is 1/2 an hour work including coffee....

No this is something that would have to run everynight.

My finding lead me to that bapi but still no sure enough that one would do it for me.

Hi,

If you know the name of the BAPI which is a function .

Use transaction SE37 and see if the output is what you need.

For example: Run function BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL with your user name.
