Hi friends please explain me what is the purpose of Data Transfer?

Data Transfer means uploading of legacy data or any data into sap system.

There are different tools for doing this like LSMW, DX-WB.

and also different methods like Idoc, BDC, call transaction.

Hi,

through data transfer we bring legacy data to SAP database. eg:using BDC or LSMW.

hi ramesh,

data transfer is to transfer the data from your external system to your SAP system or from one SAP to another SAP system.

There are lots of methods available which can be used based on the context.

For eg,if you wanna transfer data from non sap to SAP you can use BDC or LSMW.

If you want to transfer data in a distributed enviroinment then you could use ALE/XI.
