Performance improvement for OLTP Transactions

Hi,

In a scenario with HANA as secondary database, can we improve performance of OLTP transactions (which perform insert/delete/update on application tables) as well. Most of the content that I came across referred to optimizing reports (OLAP) only.

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Side car is for OLAP usage.

You want both OLAP and OLTP should consider migrating to SAP Suite on HANA which is the ideal path.

In HANA as secondary database scenario (side car approach) , we can improve performance of Reports that does Reads from database. In this scenario, data from Classical database is moved to HANA database through a suitable replication mechanism and reports need to be modified to read tables from HANA d/b instead of classical one.

However , if it is required to optimize OLTP transactions, which have write backs - insert/delete/update on tables, then side car scenario is not suitable. For this case, it is required to have an integrated scenario where in the Application - SAP ERP, CRM or SCM needs to have HANA as primary database , so SAP Business suite on HANA would help here .
