Issue in transaction code creation for sap query report .

Hi Gurus,

I have a requirement to create transaction codes for sap query reports. I found two ways to create transaction code for sap query report

1) By Generating program for sap query report and creation of transaction code for that generated Program. in tcode.

2) By using parameter transaction options in start object of se93

What are the difference between creation of these two ways. Please specify the advantages and disadvantages of both methods.

Hi Suneel,

Go with option 2. The program name will most likely change when you transport the query across systems, so using parameters transaction will keep you out of trouble.

Hi Suneel,

Firstly, we can create the Tcode in many ways as you have said before.

You can even create transaction in the Object Navigator SE80 also with easy steps.

Coming to the Points mentioned above,

We use Parameter Transaction option for those scenarios where we need to default the selection screen with some values or even skip the initial screen for that instance.

Eg. We create the TCODE for Table Maintenance Generator with Parameter Transaction. By using it, we can give the default values in the initial screen and skip it as well.

If you are creating TCODE for a Report Program go with report transaction,

Typically in a report transaction, at he beginning of the execution, we get data from the user through a selection screen, processes the data, and then show the output.

While creating the transaction code, you can specify the selection screen and even select the saved variant.

Hi Suneel,

I have been working on Infoset Queries for quite some-time.

1.I always used the 1st method of Transaction code.

2.I have about 25 such active Tcodes working for years. No problem at all.

3. I have 2 types of Infoset queries.

a) Created in Development Server (Global Area) and Transported to PRD

b) Created in PRD itself (Standard Area) - In this case only Tcode needs to be created in Dev Server and Translported to PRD. This Tcode refers to a program which exists in PRD only.

See the following 2 Program names

AQICZPM=========ZPMDLY========

AQZZZPM=========ZPP_PROD======

The first one is created in PRD only through Standard Area.

Second one is Created in Global area (in Development server) and transported.

But I am getting problem while transporting form development system to the production system. After transporting to Production system I have used the code created in development system, but it is giving Error ' No Program Found for that Transaction Code. And I would like to know on what conditions should I have to use the First one and as well as a second one in sap query reports.

Hi Suneel,

Case1 (Global Area - means Query work in development server)

There are 2 aspects in transporting.

1. Transporting your Query work from Dev to PRD,

2. Taking the Report name from the above work (like AQZZ.....) , creating a Tcode with SE93 and transporting this too to PRD.

Your case seems to have not transported the first one.

Case2 (Standard Area - Means Query work in Prodcution Server)

Here is only 1 aspect of Transportation.

Your Program is already in PRD, you need to have a Tcode for using this. So get the Program name form this (like AQIC....) and go to Development server -->Create the Tcode through SE93 with this program name --> transport to PRD.

Another probability for this error message is, typing mistake of your program name during Tcode creating through SE93.

In PRD compare the Program name showing in SE93 (Display mode), and the PRogram name of your Query. (from SQ01)
