Update patch level of ADT from https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler/?

Hi guys!

I\m just trying to use Eclipse 4.3 (Kepler) with ABAP in Eclipse. I have a few issues there, but before I try to address this issues, I wanted to upgrade to the newest patch level.

I have installed ADT just by using URL https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler/ in Eclipse "Install new Software" feature. It worked well, but the version, you can download from SAP download center - zip file SAPBASISAIE00_7-10013262.ZIP (has in info patchlevel 7) is newer (f.e. com.sap.adt.core_2.19.6 versus com.sap.adt.core_2.19.7).

Unfortunately, when I try to use Eclipse's update feature to update from this downloaded ZIP file, it doesn't work because of unresolved dependencies.

I tried to add some more repositories:

Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) 2.9.x Service releases http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/emf/updates/2.9.x/

Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) Update Site http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/emf/updates/

EMF http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/emf/updates/releases/

Kepler http://download.eclipse.org/releases/kepler

Mylyn http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/latest

Mylyn 3.10 for Eclipse 3.8, 4.2 and 4.3 http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/3.10

SAP ABAP in Eclipse Zip jar:file:/D:/Users/semond/Downloads/SAPBASISAIE00_7-10013262.ZIP!/

The Eclipse Project Updates http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/4.3

Xcore Maintenance Site http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/emf/updates/2.9.x/xcore/

but I still get an error (I don't install HANA Tools):

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.

Software being installed: ABAP Core Development Tools 2.19.7 (com.sap.adt.core.feature.group 2.19.7)

Missing requirement: ABAP Communication Framework 2.19.4 (com.sap.adt.fwk.ci.feature.group 2.19.4) requires 'org.eclipse.mylyn.commons.feature.group [3.6.0,4.0.0)' but it could not be found

Cannot satisfy dependency:

From: ABAP Core Development Tools 2.19.7 (com.sap.adt.core.feature.group 2.19.7)

To: com.sap.adt.fwk.ci.feature.group [2.19.4]

But Mylyn is already in the list of Available Software Sites (and enabled).

So is there any easy way, how to update the patch level without having to install each missing requirement one by one? Is it planned to update the https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler/ site to the newest patch level?

Hi Ondrej,

this upgrade scenario does not work. You cannot mix plugins from Updatesite with plugins from Services marketplace into one eclipse installlation. You have to either install the ADT plugins via the service market place or via the updatesite. What are the issues in ADT so that you need patch level 7?

Hi Thomas,

when I try to debug webdynpro views, when the debugger is started or when I click on any of the 2 topmost entries of the stack, or try to step the code, I got an Exception

'Debug Source Display' has encountered a problem.

An internal error has occurred.

In "Details" there is java.lang.NullPointerException

Stack trace from log:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 4 2014-03-20 09:32:31.465

!MESSAGE An internal error has occurred.

!STACK 0

java.lang.NullPointerException

at com.sap.adt.wda.controller.ui.editors.ControllerEditor.getWordFromSelection(ControllerEditor.java:599)

...

So it is not possible to debug any webdynpro.

The backend system is 731 SP 7

Do you have any ideas?

Hi Ondrej,

This looks like a bug to me and we'd need to investigate this further. Could you please raise an OSS ticket on BC-DWB-AIE-WDA and attach the detailed exception trace.

Hi! Ondrej!

I am unable to install ADT in my Eclipse (Juno).

After entering the url and selecting the options and next, I am having this error.

Kindly help how can i move forward from here.

Hi Sumit,

if you are using Juno, you need to use https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/juno

If it doesn't work, you can still install the needed components one by one (as it is mentioned in the https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012006153200000375542012E/adt_731_installation_guide.pdf 😞
