what r the idoc layers and how many and what are they?

if one idoc is processed is it possible to process the same idoc?

when the idoc number is generated?

Hi Kiran,

I am not very sure about Idoc Layers. Are you refering to the types of Idoc segments? (Control, Status and Data)

It is possible to reprocess a FAILED Idoc. This can be done by using the transaction BD87. Here you need to give the Idoc number and also take care of the date. It should be on or before the date of original processing of the Idoc. For convinience you might just clear the dates.

The above transaction would however not post a new Idoc and hence a new Idoc number would not be generated.

For posting new Idocs, you can use the transaction WE19. Here you can give the Basic Type (the idoc type) and then in the next screen fill up the Control and Data Records.

Scheduling IDoc Transfer to Communication Layer

When an IDoc is transferred to the communication layer, a transactional RFC (tRFC) forwards it to an external system. The ALE layer transfers the IDoc.

The ALE layer processes the outbound IDoc and controls its dispatch. Depending on the partner profile settings in Customizing for ALE, IDocs can be transferred in the following ways:

· IDocs assigned to the same partner and message type are collected and the RSEOUT00 program later forwards them to the communication layer.

To do this, in ALE Customizing (Transaction SALE) choose:

Set-Up System Monitoring

IDoc Processing

Schedule Collected IDoc Transmission (SM36)

You can also send the collected IDocs to the communication level manually, in the ALE Administration under Monitoring ®IDoc Display ® Status Monitor.

· The IDoc is forwarded to the communication layer immediately.

You should use the outbound processing mode Collect IDocs, especially if you are distributing master data. System performance is better.

You can also Process IDocs in Packets in the "collect" processing mode.

To go to the ALE administration functions, from the SAP menu choose

Implement and Configure Business Processes

Partner Profiles

Generate Partner Profile

Under outbound parameters choose the output mode Collect IDocs and transfer.
