Running parallel jobs in background processing.

hello,

i want to run parallel jobs in background processing but the problem is when i am running the code its shows me a dump saying rfcdest is unknown though it is declared.Can anyone give me a clarity on this??

Is the destination specified is a valid one? Please check the same in SM59.

If it is valid, is it a working connection?

If it is the same system than try providing destination as NONE.

please check if the RFC destination exist in SM59 and also check the connection Test.

Hi Rahul,

Check if the RFC Destination is already declared and if the name is proper. Post the screenshot of error so that your question is more clear.

hi abhinab,

I have given the destination as a group with a space and when i debug it it is reading all the values but when it comes to CALL FUNCTION 'SPBT_GET_PP_DESTINATION' it gives a dump stating rfcdest is unknown.

here..

CALL FUNCTION 'SPBT_GET_PP_DESTINATION'

EXPORTING

RFCDEST = TASKLIST-RFCDEST

EXCEPTIONS

OTHERS = 1.

APPEND TASKLIST.

WRITE: / 'Started task: ', TASKLIST-TASKNAME COLOR 2.

Check the value of TASKLIST-RFCDEST in SM59.

Whether the connection still exits and active?

hello sheetal,

i have attached the screen shots of my program.I am getg the dump when im calling CALL FUNCTION 'SPBT_GET_PP_DESTINATION' function module. Is this the correct way to perform parallel jobs in background processing?? can u just guide me?

Actually abhinab i am new to sap and i have got the task to run 5 parallel jobs with each job taking some input and this i have to perform in background processing.So can u just help me out with the correct process??

Hi Rahul,

Declare another variable

DATA: lv_rfcdest like RFCDES-RFCDEST.

and make call to FM like

CALL FUNCTION 'SPBT_GET_PP_DESTINATION'

IMPORTING

RFCDEST = lv_rfcdest.

// You are getting error because there is no IMPORTING parameter for the FM you are using. Its exporting parameter. so use as i mentioned above and check if its working.

//Just check with code in this

//parallel processing - some questions | SCN

Try using space instead of ' ' when initializing GROUP variable. Also post screenshot of error if possible.

Hello Rahul,

Check the RFC connection in SM59. Try to do logon test and connection test fro RFC connection.

Hi Rahul,

While calling Function module in background, you have to write 'IN BACKGROUND TASK' Key word an maintain the destination.

Ex:

CALL FUNCTION 'SPBT_GET_PP_DESTINATION'

IN BACKGROUND TASK

DESTINATION 'XXXXXX'

EXPORTING

customer_data = it_data.

I think this may help to you.

This job is too complex for a newbie. You should ask for it to be handed over to someone more experienced. Or ask for guidance from someone in your office who knows what they are doing - the opportunities for screwing it up are high.

If you will search this site, and read the ABAP help, you will find many examples of how to do it.

Clearly, your RFC destination is not correct.
