Show Classification Saved Before Creation Material Master

Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to first create the classification of the material and then when user goes to MM01 to create that material, the classification tab is already filled out.

I am using FM - CLVF_VB_INSERT_CLASSIFICATION, to insert the classification, which it is doing as expected.

The problem is, when i try to create the material after that using MM01, the classification data is not displayed in classification tab.

If i just save the material without doing anything in MM01, and then display the material, it shows the already created classification.

I have already done COMMIT WORK after calling the FM - CLVF_VB_INSERT_CLASSIFICATION.

Any helps ?

The problem is, when i try to create the material after that using MM01, the classification data is not displayed in classification tab.

How i am reading it is you have set object dependencies and default values for classes & characterstic and while creating material using MM01 when these clases get attached with material it builds the default configuration for that material.

once material is already created you cant use MM01 once again for same material,plant other org data.

MM01 means create material,

Data that is already there, cannot be created, can only be changed.

Hence it is not displayed when you execute MM01 transaction.

Just do a test yourself. create a material master, just basic data view and save

Then execute MM01 again and select basic data view and purchasing view.

SAP takes you only to the purchasing view, the basic data view will not be visible anymore, as it is already there.

I suppose you didn't completely understand the question.

But, I have found the way to implement it through an exit.

I have exported the classification values from my program and imported them in the exit at MM01.

I am certain I understood the question, because I explained the SAP design to you.

Your solution is an ABAP solution ignoring the standard SAP design.

Almost everything can be solved with programming, it just a matter of money which makes it possible to ignore given designs.
