Thanks for the reply Thomas. I had of course completely forgotten about the ABAP aspect of BSP

I am trying to do a HTML/JS/CSS using BSP as a container, which in essence is the same as a SAPUI5 app (but with other JS libs).

I guess it's back to WebDAV for now...

It would be nice though if the ability to do a HTML app using a BSP container was part of ADT (i.e. not just being limited to SAPUI5).

BSP development with ADT?

The ADT supports development of SAPUI5 applications, which are stored on the ABAP system as a BSP application, and could therefore be considered a specialization of BSP development.

It is a pity therefore that SAP does not provide generalized support for developing BSP applications with ADT with support for versioning etc., as in essence the tooling and integration is already there.

I suppose it is possible to create a SAPUI5 application in ADT and not use the SAPUI5 features, but include your own resources (e.g. third-party Javascript libraries), but dedicated support for BSP development would be nicer.

Can anyone from SAP perhaps comment on this?

Hi Martin,

for editing SAPUI5 Applications in Eclipse we can reuse the existing HTML and Javascripteditors within the standard Eclipse environment. As BSP also contains ABAP code we cannot do this reuse for BSP. Also the development process is a bit different for UI5 compared to BSP. That's the second reasion why the BSP editor for ADT is not that easy. For BSP you want the integration of the BSP artifacts with the ABAP project. You don't want to have an own UI project for BSP I guess.

Therefore the effort for supporting BSP in Eclipse is higher than you might expect and we have no plan yet to support BSP native in eclipse.

Kind Regards,

Thomas.
