Hi Guys,

I'm currently working with the new theme designer to modify Web Dynpro ABAP theme. Everything works fine

However, to use the new theme we have to use the following URL parameter:

sap-theme=<theme ID>@<theme root>

This is not a problem at all, but where I'm facing issue is on the Theme Root. The documentation say :

The theme root path looks as follows:
https://<hostname>:<port>/sap/public/bc/themes

But when I want to transport the them and my Web Dynpro Application, I do not want to change the URL each tiem. I have to much Web Dynpro application to modify.

Is there any possiblity to point the URL to localhost or something like that :

/sap/public/bc/themes

I try this but it didn't work at all.

Any suggestion ?

I heard @TechEd in Vegas last month that SAP is working on removing the URL requirement and that a SAP note would be released once that work is completed. Maybe or someone else from the UI Theme Designer team could give an update on this?

If you use the portal and the portal version of UI Theme Designer, the supported backend applications will automatically get the theme from portal, no need to specify URLs.

Hi,

In fact, we use the portal to consume the applications, but for the moment the UI Addon is setting up on the ECC side only, not on the Portal.

So If I understand what you told me, If I install the Addon on the portal side, and deploy the WD application theme in it. It should work ?

The UI Theme Designer for SAP NetWeaver Portal isn't working too well, not at least in NW731. Importing/exporting doesn't work and I'm not exactly sure that the themes created with the UI Theme Designer in UI Add-On even could be imported to the UI Theme Designer for SAP NetWeaver Portal assuming it worked. That said if you create your theme in UI Theme Designer for SAP NetWeaver Portal, your WDAs in the backend will use the same theme.

At the end, we have modify all URL from iViews to point to the correct system.

This is the worst of best solution and only solution I found.

If some one is aware of a SAP Note, I will be greatful to you

SAP has released SAP note 1957578 which you can apply to get rid of the URL requirement.

Even with Version 2 of this sap note it is not working for me. It still shows the SAP Standard Theme. I tried it with the URL Parameter "sap-theme" as well as maintaining the theme ID in the Global Settings.

If I call a Web Dynpro directly using the complete path (sap-theme=THEMEID@URL) it is working fine.

Did anyone get it to work?

What is your exact AS ABAP version, including SPs? One thing to notice is that the sap-theme parameter or rather the value of the parameter is case sensitive.

Hi Samuli,

Note 1957578 is only released for SAP Basis 731.

Is there also a solution for other releases? We have 702/0015 and UI5AddOn in version SAPK-10007.

I've created a request to SAP for downgrading this note.

Are there any other solutions excepting the URL parameter?

I had the Theme problem after an upgrade from 7.31 to 7.5 SP4.

Backend systems running under 731 EHP6 SPS7

OSS note below, implemented at the backend system, as stated by you just solved the problem

Just wonder...... best than SAP support, as I was expecting the answer for three days and NOTHING has been provided by them, and this allowed me to unlock the upgrade of next system in the landscape !
