Problem using ABAP Development Tools with HANA Studio and server side profiles

Hi,

using ABAP Development Tools (2.13) with HANA Studio (Rev. 62) causes a problem with Windows server side profiles.

Because the "cache" data is stored in path "C:\Users\<user>\hdbstudio\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic\.cache\<ABAP project>\.adt\< ... objects ... >" the path length of 255 characters is exceeded. This causes that windows server side profiles cannot be synchronized anymore.

I found no settings (also not in the registry) to change the "cache" folder. Is there any option to be able to steer this.

Thanks for reporting this problem.

Unfortunately we do not yet have a configuration for the cache location of the Semantic File System (plug-in org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic). It is a default location inside the Eclipse workspace, as usual for state data of Eclipse plug-ins. But we will check if we can implement a configuration possibility and when it can be provided.

Could you please provide further information:

The length of the complete path
The length of your Windows user name
(C:\Users\<user>\hdbstudio\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic\.cache\<ABAP
project>\.adt\< ... objects ... >)
The length of your ABAP project name
(C:\Users\<user>\hdbstudio\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic\.cache\<ABAP project>\.adt\< ...objects ... >)
Is the project name the default name or defined by you?
The object path (you can replace the real name of your object by digits, e.g. my_object -> 123456789)
(C:\Users\<user>\hdbstudio\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic\.cache\<ABAP
project>\.adt\< ... objects ...>)

This information can give hints about internal improvement potential concerning the
path handling.

sorry for my late answer.

Unfortunately an Admin has deleted the cache folder to get the profile synchronized.

After I have have worked a little bit with the Studio in ABAP the longest path created was

"C:\Users\xxxxxxxxxxxx\hdbstudio\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources.semantic\.cache\xxx_xxx_xxxxxxxxxxxx_xx\.adt\functions\groups\%2fxxx%2fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\includes\%2fxxx%2fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\%2fxxx%2fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.apfinc".

I have replaced the user name and project with "x" characters.
The project name is the default project name (system ID + "_" + client + "_" + user ID + "_" + language).
I don't have replaced the escaped slashes of the namespace (%2fxxx%2f).
