Issue with Valid From Date in BAPI_EQUI_CREATE

Hi Experts,

I am using BAPI_EQUI_CREATE to create Equipment Master. I need to pass the Valid From date. In the sandbox server I am passing this value to VALID_DATE parameter of BAPI_EQUI_CREATE. There it is accepting the value being passed and i am getting the desired results.

However, in the development server, when the same value is being passed it is not getting updated and only the current system date is getting updated as Valid From date as seen in IE03.

Will really appreciate any help on this matter.

Hi Sakshi,

Have you checked if there is a difference in the format of the dates being passed in the sandox and the development system? I am alluding the possibility that the date format in DEV is different due to which the date is not being recognized as a valid date and the current date is being taken as the default value.

Have you tried debugging the BAPI to see the passed date is flowing ahead?

Thanks for the input. The date format being passed in both the servers is same. I have debugged the BAPI and the field DATAB ( field for valid from date) has the value I pass throughout the BAPI. It nowhere changes to the current date. Also when I manually create the equipment through IE01 in the development server, it takes the date I pass and does not change it to the current system date.

Are there any particular settings or anything else that also determines this valid from date.

I am not aware of any such setting but I suggest that you drill down further. If you do, you would see there are several checks being done on the date in FM EQUIPMENT_SAVE. Maybe these are the ones that are causing the date to be set to the current date.

Hi Sakshi,

Ideally, the behavior encountered while creating equipments (or anything for that matter) manually(via IE01) and BAPI should be same and both should obey the configuration.

As far as configuration goes please check

Hi,

The date format being passed is YYYYMMDD.

I have debugged the BAPI and nowhere the date changes to the current system date.

Is there anything else that affects the value of this field while an equipment is being created?

I am also passing either the Superior Equipment or the Functional Location while creating an equipment.Afterc alling BAPI_EQUI_CREATE, I am also calling BAPI_EQUI_INSTALL to install the equipment at a functional location or as per the superior equipment. Can this possibly affect the value of Valid-From date? However, this same procedure is being followed in the sandbox system also where Valid-From date i successfully getting updated with the value I pass.

Hi,

Since you are passing either superior equipment or functional location, try passing your valid from date to installation date parameter of this structure. This is the date when the equipment is installed at the respective functional location.

Hi,

The "valid from" date is automatically set by the system when you install a piece of equipment at a Functional Location. This date will equal the "installation date" that you enter when install a piece of equipment at a Functional Location.
