I created a Z table of delivery class C, customizing that I want to be transportable.

I used Utilities -> Table Maintenance Generator.

It worked pretty well, I can maintain the data in sm30 now and I automatically get the pop-up asking for the transport request, just what I wanted.

(This is the right way of achieving this, isn't it?)

But: In sm30 the columns don't have proper names. They have the description of the data type. So that's very confusing, because instead of "Customer", "Employee" it says "Partner", "Partner".

I can't figure out how to fix it. I go into se11, put the name into the View field and click Change - but it just leads me to the maintenance of the table again, not the view. Also in the table there is no way to specify descriptions (short texts) for the columns. In se16 it shows the technical names, like CUSTOMER, EMPLOYEE, that was good enough, but the maintenance there is not working anymore since the view was generated, which is probably good as it did not put the changed entries into transport requests.

So, how do I maintain the column descriptions / short texts?

Hi Monika,

You can have desired column heading by following 3 ways.

1. Change to a standard data element that has the description Customer and Employee. This might not be as simple as you have to find one with data type that is usefull to you.

2. Change the column headings on the dynpro screen generated as mentioned above by D. Floor. This is not a sustainable solution though and will not recommend unless you weigh this option better that 1. and 3.

3. Copy the standard data elements that you think work best for you to Z. Change the Description and Label to match best with your application.

Regards

Sachin

Hi Monika,

Check if you are in-line with the below steps:

1. After creating the table, create table maintenance Generator by going to the SE11-CHANGE - Utilities - Table Maintenance Generator

2. You will be prompted to the below screen . Double click on the Output screen ie Overview screen for Single Screen

3. You will get the below Screen painter 101 screen for that Maintenance view.

4. Now click on the Element List Tab ----> IN that click on Texts/IO/Templates tab, so you will find the table control as below,

If we look in the below case in the Name Column, we have field MESTYP, and in the text we have Message_Type, this can be renamed as per your requirement. This is the value displayed in the output screen.

5. Now you can change the description as required in Text or I/O field tab.

Let me know if you need more info on the same.
