Why do we code for exporting to excel on ALV ?

Hi Experts,

When we have a button for generating excel from an ALV report, why we have to write separate code for downloading the ALV report to excel?

Reasons maybe,

*some times customer don't want to do so many things like more CLICKS (lazy like me )

*if user wants any color in excel means that also we can do it by code

*some user wants data should be printed in multi-sheets in excel that's also possible by coding

Hi,

1. It is used to download data in to excel file automatically,

2. to download data as per our requirement etc..

When you export from ALV, only the data currently displayed in the list is exported. This means that hidden columns or, for example, data rows that are hidden due to a filter are not exported.

On the other hand, while coding, the entire data in ALV is exported.

Hi Marina,

The standard button on alv gives you list of options there we need to select any option. So, if client dont want to select any option(when clicking on export he want direct download with out getting any popup to select for spreed sheet) in that case we need to do code and for other functionality.
