Depending on your switch settings, you may see the same thing happen for PA as well.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've always assumed this was happening in old SAP code and though I've encountered this check quite a few times in the trace, the authorization failure was always caused by a previous or other check and I've never had to add "$$" in OTYPE in order to get it to work.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Could you perhaps try to re-run all the activities and analyze the system trace again for other checks that are failing before the "$$" check occurs?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Have you also checked SU53 for failed structural authorization checks?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Good luck,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Brent&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <title>HR Object Type $$</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Does anybody know the meaning of object type $$ ?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I recently added OKENN ( cost centre structure) into a role for access to many company codes cost centre structures it, All was ok until it came to accessing a cost centre group, it would not work until object type $$ was added into the role,, not sure what $$ is actually achieveing &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Does any body know ?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;thanks&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Debbie&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
